Blogging is a great way to start a side hustle or a new business because it has such a low startup cost. You can literally start for free! What makes a good blog post?
A good blog post starts with a title that makes people want to click on it. The title should be catchy and unique. Next, a good blog post has to have interesting content that is relevant for the audience it’s reaching out to (you).
A great way you can start writing your best posts now is by looking at what other bloggers in similar niches as yourself write about.
Here are a few posts that you should start with:
1. Foundation or Pillar Post
A foundation or pillar post is an in-depth article that covers a particular topic. It’s usually the first one you should write because it will set up your blog for future content and help readers understand what they can expect to read on your blog.
For example, my blog post Create a Professional Logo for Free is an in-depth post that's all about on very important aspect of blogging, which is branding.
Some other examples:

Of course, your foundation or pillar post should be tailored to your specific niche or blog topic. This post should be the longest type of post you write. Try to make it more than 2,500 words.
Also, make sure that you write additional posts about the topics covered in this post and link back to them.
2. Tips & Tricks Post
This type of post should share quick tips and quick wins for your readers. It’s usually a short and sweet article that answers your reader's most pressing questions or provides them with quick hacks for common problems.
This type of post is helpful if you have an audience who needs help solving specific challenges they come across in their everyday lives.
Make sure to separate your paragraphs with headings and bullet points to make them as easy as possible to read.
Here's an example of a tips and tricks post I wrote called What Kind of Blog Should I Start?
3. List Post
This is my favorite kind of post. It's a list of things that will help your reader with a specific goal. It can be anything from the top 20 countries to visit or 12 things you should do every day that will make your life better in whatever way they are seeking.
Your readers love list posts because of how easy it is for them to see what their other options could be. They are also really easy to read and skim through, which honestly is how most people read these days.
Here's my examples:
4. How-To Post
How-To posts are great because they help your reader with a specific goal. This really helps you to build know, like, and trust with your readers because you are providing amazing value for free and they are getting help with something valuable to them.
A How To post will show them how to do something they might not know about but have been wanting to figure out, like showing steps on making the perfect cup of coffee at home or showing them how to do something valuable for free.
A great example of mine is Create a Professional Logo for Free.
5. My Story Post
The absolute best type of post you can share is your own story. When you share your personal struggles you can help someone who is going through the same thing that you've been through.
The best part of writing this type of post is being able to make an impact on someone who might be going through something similar and knowing they have support from other people like them.
These are my favorite types of posts to write. Try out a few and see which ones work best for you!
Good luck and happy blogging!
