40 Ways to Get More Blog Traffic
Whether you're a new blogger or an established one, getting blog traffic is tough. It's not just about writing good content; it's also about how and when to publish that content.
Every blog post needs promotion, whether it be on social media or through other channels like search engine optimization (SEO) and Google AdWords.
It can seem like there are never enough hours in the day to do everything we need to do for our business, but here are 40 different ways you can promote your posts without taking up any more of your time!
SEO is a powerful tool for any business. As an introvert entrepreneur, you can use SEO to your advantage and get more blog traffic without the need for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Search engine optimization (SEO) makes your blog posts rank higher on search engines like Google and Bing. You can improve it by adding specific keywords, updating your meta data and choosing the right name for your blog posts.
- Write more blog posts
When people come to your blog, they need something to read! The more blog posts you have, the more people will have the opportunity to stay there and read more.
- Create a FB Group
A Facebook group is a fantastic way to connect with other people who are interested in the topic of your blog. It also gives you another way to let them know when you have a new blog post out. It’s a great place to ask for feedback about your blog posts and to see what your audience wants and needs you to write about next.
Adding a pop-up ad to your page is a great way to draw attention to a certain post you have that you want people to read.
Offer a freebie in exchange for people’s email address. This is a great way to provide more value to your readers for free and also build that know, like and trust that is so important to keep people coming back to you.
You can host a contest where people have to go to multiple blog posts to get the answers to questions.
Pinterest is an amazing source of traffic for my blog. I have boosted my traffic more than 300% by using a program called Tailwind. You can read more about it here.
- Tell your friends
Your friends and family are your biggest supporters! You never know how many people you could reach if they all share your posts.
- Make a newsletter
I have a weekly newsletter that I send to all of my subscribers. It always boots traffic to my blog on that day without fail.
- Email your subscribers
Every time you post a new blog post you should send an email to all of your subscribers telling them about it. They signed up for your email list because they want to hear from you!
- Refine your blog post titles
Make sure your blog titles are something so enticing that you would click on it yourself. A great way to do this is to keep a Pinterest board of all of the blog posts that you click on to read for yourself. Then go back and reference them when you’re writing the titles for your posts.
- As a question in your title
Questions are a great way to get people to click. If it’s a question they’ve asked themselves they’ll want to know what you think too.
- Include links inside your posts
Make sure that you include links to other relevant blog posts within your posts. You want to provide your readers with as much info as possible.
- Brand yourself as an authority
You’re writing a blog about a certain topic because that topic interests you and you know a lot about it. You should think of yourself as an authority and brand yourself that way too.
- Offer to guest post
Writing a guest post on someone else’s blog will give you access to a whole new audience. That audience could be your audience if your post is valuable to them. Make sure you include links to your posts as well.
- Participate on topic related FB groups
There are Facebook groups for every topic you can imagine. Find some that are relevant to your blog and start participating in the conversation. When the opportunity presents itself, share your blog.
- Create amazing content
When you create amazing, valuable content, people will come back weekly, sometimes even daily to read it again and again.
- Have a blog schedule
I have a schedule for my blog to post new content every Sunday. This way people know when to look for new posts and they come back on that day every single week.
- Tweet about it
Social media is an amazing tool for blog growth. Send your new blog posts out into the Twitter world to get more readers. Make sure you use the relevant hashtags as well.
- Facebook it

- Instagram it
I love Instagram! A large part of my blog traffic comes from Instagram because I’ve built a community there and share my posts regularly.

- Make an infographic
Infographics are a great way to catch people’s attention. Share them on Pinterest and your other social media. Make sure to include the link to the relevant blog post too.
- Quote your posts on graphics
I make tons and tons of graphics for Instagram and Pinterest. They are a great way to share the best parts of your blog post and link back to it.
- Add videos to your site
Videos really enhance the experience of your blog posts. Some people are visual learners and would rather watch a video than read.
- Add photos to your blog
Photos are another way to enhance your posts. They are a great way to break up the test to make your post more readable.
- Create blog posts with lists
I love lists! Lists help to break up the text and make your posts super easy to skim through, which is how most people read these days anyway.
- Make your blog posts easy to read
Make sure your posts aren’t just a huge clump of text. When people see that they’ll click off the page. You want to break it up with headings, subheadings, pictures and other graphics. Make it as easy to read as possible.
- Ask experts to write guest posts for you
Ask an expert in the field of your blog niche to write a guest post for you. They’ll promote the post and give you access to their audience as well as yours.
- Interview experts
You can also ask for interviews with experts so that you can write blog posts around what they say. Using their names to promote your post will boost your readers too.
- Offer to give an interview on a podcast in your niche
There are millions of podcasts nowadays. I’m sure you can find one that’s related to your niche. See if they are looking for guests and ask if you can be on. You’ll get access to all of their audience and you can link directly to your blog.
- Offer a free webinar
People love free stuff, especially if it’s a free learning session on something that they really struggle with.

Write a blog post on something that your audience really struggles with. Bonus points if it answers a question that a lot of people search for on Google. Your post could be featured in one of their snippets.

Top 10 lists are some of the most viewed posts on my blog. They are easy to read and people love them!
